The 10 Indian Commandments

1. Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect.

5. Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.

7. Look after the well-being of mind and body.

10. Take full responsibility for your actions.

Reflection:

I think that this is a really good list to follow because it helps set a type of peace with one and the earth itself. Also it helps guide one towards good, and it is interesting to know that native americans follow this. I actually have two friends that are native americans and they alway speak to me about the things they believe and the rules they follow. Although my friend calls them the rules of the great one. Which are basically these commandments. I think this is really cool and i can apply these methods into my daily life by respecting the people around me. Take care of the stuff i own, help others when they need it and know the difference between bad and good. This will help me do things that will benefit me and will guide me to good. Some other things i can do is be good with myself, feel proud, do my best to show others to be a good person and educate them about choosing the right, tell the truth all the time, and be responsible. this will help me be a better person and help me in school and later on help me succeed.

“A promise must never be broken.”this is a good statement because it is correct. If someone trusts you with a secret and you promise not to say anything then you should keep that promise because if it was your secret you would not want others to spill it.also if you are being trusted with a secret then you should not feel the need to tell others. Also if you promise someone you will show up to there gathering then you need to be able to keep your word and actually go.

Orthopedic surgeon

Duties and responsibilities: they work with the musculoskeletal systems which means they help people with bones, joint, muscle, ligament and tendon problems. And provide treatment for them to get better and complain less about the pain whether it's acute pain or a large amount of pain. Some of the patients may complain about having arthritis and this is when a orthopedic surgeon will step in and see what is going on and why the patient is feeling this much pain. Depending on the situation, the orthopedic will see if the patient need surgery or not. And if they do then the orthopedic will perform the surgery himself.

Salary:”Orthopedic surgeon salary in Los Angeles, CA is $500,413, as of March 31, 2017, with a range usually between $393,453-$647,345”

Education:first you need to complete a 4-year bachelor's degree program in biology, pre-medicine or a related field. then people who want to become an orthopedic surgeon must complete a four year of medical school. And then complete a 4-to-5 year orthopedic surgery residency in a hospital.

Reflection: i don’t like this type of career because it is not something i would want to do because it seems boring to me

The quote ”my basic principle is that you don't make decisions because they are easy; you don’t  make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular;you make them because they are right.” is telling us is that if you make a decision to do anything in life you have to know that it is a good thing. For example if you are at a party and someone has been asking you to smoke with them and at first you want to you have to know that it is not a really good thing to do that and then say no to them because you know that drugs are no good. Another example is when you at a place where you have to decide whether you want to drink and then derive home or not drink and drive home safely. This is a time when you would have to ask yourself if you want to go the bad route or do whats right. In this quote Theodore Hesburgh explains how he will not take the wrong decision because he believes it is not the right thing. He also says that if he thinks something is cool because others are doing it but he knows it is wrong then he will make the decision to not do it.and that he does not do things because it is easy for him to do. He does things that he knows are good for him

Optometry technician

Salary: average Optometric Technician salary is $22,260 but it depends on the location in which they are responsible for helping patients learn how to use prescribed eye lenses.

Education:High school diploma is required, 1-2 year training programs and community colleges

Reflection:i think this career pathway is really interesting because you have to be very careful when prescribing glasses for others because it can harm their vision if you give them the wrong lense this is a career i would be willing to try out.

The quote”it is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound”by Joseph Smith refers to the things one does and how they do it.for example if you are doing bad in school and decide to slack off then you are making bad things be popular. This means that others might see that you don't care about your education and they might start feeling the same way and will do the same thing this would be making what you do popular. Also if you are actually staying on track and not doing bad things then others will see how you are doing good and how you are set for life and will want to be exactly like you. This would be making what you are doing popular as well. And it is important to be able to influence others in a good way rather than in a bad way because this will help them and others out as well. Also if you began to use drugs then it will also become an influence on your friends and maybe even your family members. And that is something you do not or should not want for anyone

School break day

During spring break i went to bakersfield to visit my horses and i met three new people on my way there. One of them was a lady who is now studying at ucla, she explained the things that happen on campus and the type of careers they have and i thought it was a good thing that i met her. The second people  i met was a guy and a girl my age and turns out he was actually my cousin yet i have never met them. It was really fun and i wish to go back soon. Another thing i did during my break was re-watch all seven seasons of pretty little liars. Also i went to the park many times and played basketball and volleyball. I also went swimming with my family and my boyfriend. And on our way to the park we saw a homeless lady with her son who looked to be around 8 through 10 years of age and just seeing them in the hot sun made me and my boyfriend feel terrible, so we both decided it would be nice if we invited them out to eat with us and then take them out to get an ice cream. Buy doing thing kind gesture i felt really good and i know the lady and her son were also happy because of the way that they expressed themselves. They thanked us many times and they blessed us which made me feel even better about what we had done.i was so joyful that i also felt like tearing up just by seeing how happy we made them. It was great!   

“Character is higher than intellect.”-ralph waldo emerson

What this quote means is that what matters most is one's character. Not the faculty of reasoning and understanding objectively, with regard to abstract or academic matters. This quote is really good because it shows that we have to have good character in order to get the things we want. For example the clip that was shown to us by the teacher it demonstrated different basketball players and they were all really good. One difference between them was the way they expressed themselves throughout the game. Some of the team members were always smiling and showed enthusiasm. Meanwhile others were showing anger  when the opposing team scored. This shows the kind of sportsmanship they have. This is also bad for the school because they will now be known as the players with bad character. When colleges look for students to play for them. They will focus on those who are truly good. What this means is that they will only get the students with good grades have good sportsmanship and that are good at the sport. The reason for this is that they do not want to be seen as a school with bad players.

I think that this means that if you work hard for something you won't regret it. Also that if you choose to change what you want in life then you will not think its hard. And that if you try something new it will not seem as difficult for you because if you work hard you will achieve anything.
